I am not opposed to finding private grant funding.  It seems everywhere I search is a website wanting money for info.  Where do you suggest I look.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I'm not looking for someone tpp support me and pay all my bills, I just want some capital to get specialized training and help get the business up and going.  thanks for any help you can give me

You should go to the small business association website.  It has a vast amount of good information.  Getting funding doesn't come quickly - much time/paperwork is required for any of these sources.

Can anyone who has posted links or information previously about private or gov't funding for small busnesses, please re-post. I'm just looking for some friendly help. Thanks

if you go to the gates foundation site they offer 2 different FREE software programs to help with writting grants. I learned alot now I just have to find one I'm eligible for. Good-Luck to you.

Congrats on the success of your business! I too started my own business and not through grants or freebies - through my savings/personal loans.  If you have a good product, put in lots of hard work - meaning 70 + hour weeks it, willing to sacrifice - you can achieve much. Unlike some of these posts - I never had the luxury to spend hours, days, weeks or months looking for grant money - I had to jump in with family and friends and make my venture successful!

Unfortunately you are just making this too complicated.  It doesn't matter how much time you spend looking for the information - if you haven't found it then you haven't looked enough.  I list countless numbers of grant programs both on my blog and my webpages and I do admit that it does take work to find them - but that is what I do - FIND THEM!

Unfortunately this has been posted by someone that really does not know what they are talking about.  All one has to do is go to the government's website and look at all the grant programs that they have that are "open to all" to apply which means that anyone can apply for them including individuals and for-profit businesses.

 While I will agree that there are other grant programs out there besides those offered by our government, the government grants usually the most in grant monies and that's why people are so interested in applying for them.

And I have had clients who have had their utility bills paid with grants as well as getting very needed repairs for their homes.

 All it takes to dispel these myths is simply going to the government's website to check out the grant programs that they have.

First of all you should understand that government grants are funded by taxpayer dollars.  That means that the information about the government grants has to made "freely accessible to the public" - which simply means that you can go to the government's website (or to your library) to find out about the grant programs that they do have to offer.

 Number 2 the main reason why there is a charge / fee for this is that these companies and / or individuals have done the work to find the information and THAT is what you are paying for.  Of course you are right in that some of these places are scams but you can easily check them out on the internet.

 You are putting a lable on all that do this kind of work and that is really not fair to those legitimate grant writers that are out there.

Unfortunately it looks like you are the person that doesn't know the truth.

I am new here, but I don't have to be a long time member to know that the people here are willing to help themselves! Most of us just want some advice, or others who have been in the same position to share how they got out of it. After all, isn't that why God put us all here? To help each other. Congrats on your business, that's great. But, it doesn't make you better than anyone else.... THINK ABOUT IT. stop paying the scammers, this is how they make their living from consumers who want to do better in their life. unfortunately they are getting away with this. Us consumers need to get together and write a short book on how to steer clear of scammers.

You are right about the sex offenders I say get a deserted Island and put then on it people who hurt children should all be put away Or let the family memebers have a go at them. there is no rehabing them or send them to school so what they can become teachers how. Come on thats is exactley why I think this Goverment is messed up HELP OUR OWN HOMELESS, what about the kids that turn 18 from foster homes what happens to those poor kids they dont care that they have no where to go or eat or sleep. take care of them then you will see results. Unfortunately the person that posted this does not do grant research for a living.

All you have to do is take a look at the news to find out how people are being prosecuted for taking advantage of government grants.  As a matter of fact I have posted on my blog about sex offenders who were able to get government money to take online classes and what makes the story even worse is that some of them spent the money on other stuff like electronics.

At the top of my grants blog I mention about one of my clients who was looking for grants to help her with her for-profit daycare business.  I was able to send her TEN PAGES worth of grant program information! 

 You are telling people that just because there is work involved in finding grants that they shouldn't bother.

 As someone that does this for a living I really have to tell you that you do not know what you are talking about.
